AvalonX Emerges From Stealth With Artemis for Cybersecurity Testing

Smaller businesses can now use automated attack simulations and expert reviews to identify weaknesses in their defenses.

AvalonX emerged from an 18-month period of operating in stealth and introduced Artemis, a cybersecurity testing platform that combines artificial intelligence with human analysis to assess defenses at small and midsize businesses.

AvalonX also announced backing of up to $10 million from Ridown Capital, an investment firm led by Onecom co-founders Aaron Brown and Darren Ridge.

The platform, Artemis, uses autonomous agents to simulate intrusions, identify potential entry points and assess how attackers could progress through a company’s systems, according to AvalonX. Penetration testers review vulnerabilities requiring further analysis.

The subscription service provides continuous penetration testing and connects findings to requirements under several security standards and regulations, including SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS v4.0 and HIPAA.

Artemis runs on the company’s Aether AI model, which AvalonX said was trained using offensive security information collected over nine years.
