HID Adds inepro ID to Authentication Portfolio

The acquisition brings readers and software for verifying users at printers, lockers and other shared devices into HID.

Identity technology provider HID has acquired inepro ID, adding contactless authentication products for printing and shared workplace equipment to its business.

The acquired business joins HID’s Identification Technologies business area alongside its OMNIKEY authentication solutions. inepro ID previously operated within inepro Group, a technology company in the Netherlands.

Contactless authentication solutions provider inepro ID develops readers that support radio frequency identification and Bluetooth Low Energy technologies. Its products work with multiple credential technologies rather than requiring a single type.

The company’s Spider product line includes readers for integration into printers and lockers, along with portable and desktop models. Other applications include verifying users at workstations, digital display boards and checkout registers.

Contactless authentication technology from inepro ID primarily serves users in Europe, with a growing presence in North America and Latin America. HID said it will continue supporting inepro ID customers and partners.
