Optellios Announces Hardened, Multi-Zone Intrusion Detection System

Optellios Inc. announced recently that it will be launching a new family of FiberPatrol intrusion detection systems featuring modular, environmentally hardened 4-zone alarm processors. The company will be demonstrating the product at Booth 1044 at ISC West.

The new processing units will work with the company’s fiber optic multi-zone sensors that require no field power and can include unlimited spare communication fibers. The system design will feature four intrusion zones per standalone processor, enabling intelligent on-board cross-sensor correlation for superior nuisance alarm rejection.

“We are addressing a need which we have found in the industry for a low-cost solution that can also provide competent nuisance alarm rejection. We are glad to offer an alternative to older technologies, one that is truly immune to weather-induced disturbances,” said Dr. Jay Patel, CEO of Optellios.

Processor units will be available as stand-alone boxes or plug-in cards. Up to five plug-in processor modules, supporting up to 20 zones, can be housed in a standard rack-mountable chassis, which is also compatible with FiberPatrol communication equipment. Each processor will come with a set of relay contacts, an RS-232 port, and a built-in IP interface, with XML broadcasting for easy integration into existing alarm management systems. Multiple units can be combined together through the FiberPatrol Remote Alarm Management platform.

New systems will be available for all perimeter security and infrastructure monitoring applications, including fences, walls, buried perimeters, pipelines, and data cables. Multi-zone intrusion detection systems are designed to complement high-end FiberPatrol location sensing systems by providing protection to smaller facilities and individual assets.
