RAPIDGate Program Improves Security At U.S. Naval Base Coronado

U.S. Naval Base Coronado has implemented a new gate access program called the RAPIDGate Program (an acronym which stands for “Registered And Previously ID’d”), for the thousands of vendors, suppliers, service providers and contractors who routinely access the base.

The RAPIDGate Program, a product of Eid Passport Inc., is designed to improve base security by prescreening companies and its employees and to streamline gate access for vendors.

“One of the highest priorities at Naval Base Coronado is the safety and security of our personnel, families, civilian workers and visitors on the installation,” said Lieutenant Boniface from Naval Base Coronado. “The success of the Program at other installations compelled us to act and we recommend that our vendors, contractors, subcontractors and service providers participate in the RAPIDGate Program.”

Companies participating in the RAPIDGate Program at Naval Base Coronado are issued an identity credential that allows employees to gain access to the base through all 10 gates. Since all participants are previously screened, participants receive expedient access and will only be subject to random vehicle inspections.

Currently in operation at Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security facilities across the continental U.S. and Hawaii, including Naval Base Point Loma, Naval Base San Diego and U.S. Marine Corp Camp Pendleton in the San Diego area, RAPIDGate participants can register for the Multi-Facility Access Program to enter all participating installations with a single authorized RAPIDGate credential.

“The Multi-Facility Access Program is the perfect solution for contractors, vendors, suppliers and service providers who routinely access multiple installations in San Diego and across the U.S.,” said Steve Larson, CEO of Eid Passport. “The RAPIDGate Program and the Multi-Facility Access Program solve two problems in one. In response to DoD and DHS policies, the program improves gate security and increases the productivity of employees at multiple installations, which can reduce business costs.”

Companies choosing not to participate in the RAPIDGate Program must undergo a mandatory vehicle inspection each time they access Naval Base Coronado and must be prepared to provide a government issued photo ID. In addition, the driver of the vehicle is required to provide proof of vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
