Madrid Concert Hall Installs Bosch Fire Detection System

The Auditorio Nacional de Música (National Musical Auditorium) in Madrid recently chose the Bosch Security Systems Modular Fire Panel 5000 Series to provide complete control of fire detection in for the internationally renowned concert venue.

The Modular Fire Panel 5000 Series from Bosch has been steadily growing in popularity, principally due to its modular structure that can be tailored to its customers' needs. The system provides a high degree of flexibility to allow for future growth without the need and expense of installing additional panels. The 5000 Series' panel controller has an easy-to-use touch screen for intuitive operation with a clear menu structure, significantly reducing the training required for maintenance and operating personnel.

Opened in 1988 the Auditorio Nacional de Música was constructed as part of the Plan Nacional de Auditorios (national auditorium plan), intended to enhance Spain's music infrastructure. Its two concert halls, Symphony and Chamber, with seating capacities of 2,324 and 692 respectively, host up to four concerts a day between matinee and evening performances.

The challenge was to preserve the existing detectors with conventional technology. Additional addressable automatic fire detectors of the 420 Series were installed, along with eight Smoke Aspiration System 420 Series units connected to the loop network, which were discreetly installed in the ceiling of the Symphony Hall.

T hanks to the versatility of the conventional zone modules, it was possible to integrate the existing conventional zones into the latest analog detection technology housed in the 5000 Series fire panel. The system also includes analogue manual call points, sirens connected to the analogue network and fire damper control modules for the ventilation ducts. Automatic extinguishers in rehearsal rooms are controlled via another Bosch Modular Fire Panel 5000 Series unit located in the basement of the building. Everything is monitored via the Fire Monitoring System with graphical software.

With the Bosch Modular Fire Panel 5000 Series units and the Smoke Aspiration System 420 Series units, the Auditorio Nacional now has a fire detection system that corresponds with all the safety requirements. It is fit for all existing needs and the fire safety solution meets any future challenges that may arise.
