HID Global Recognized By Association For Manufacturing Excellence

HID Global recently announced that it was recognized by the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) during its recent Lean Tour for its commitment to achieving excellence in manufacturing and productivity.

At the company’s Irvine, Calif., facility on February 5, Lean Tour attendees were provided with “hands-on” opportunities to experience lean principles in action. In pursuit of becoming a world-class organization, HID Global has implemented lean process improvements to deliver customer value, with an aim of providing the highest quality product, on time, every time.

As North America’s premier organization for the exchange of knowledge in Organizational Excellence, the AME conducts numerous benchmarking tours of organizations across the United States, focused on Lean implementations.

Its recent tour of Orange County and Riverside, Calif., brought attendees from more than 19 companies across the United States, including company leaders responsible for implementing lean initiatives and executions. Lean tour attendees visited Southern California-based organizations that have successfully begun to implement Lean manufacturing.

With the implementation of Lean principles several years ago, HID Global has embraced Lean and encourages its employees to suggest process improvements and drive efficiencies that will help to streamline operations and increase productivity. The resulting improvements enable customers to rely on HID Global as a trusted supplier, delivering quality products and solutions designed to meet customer business objectives.

“The Lean Tour was a great opportunity for our employees to speak with visitors from other organizations and share their experiences with the implementation of Lean principles,” said Eric Bailey, Lean Leader at HID Global. “Team members presented their Lean implementation experiences within their respective areas to the visiting group. In all, the tour was excellent way for us to focus on continuous improvement throughout our facility.”

Started as the Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean manufacturing is a unified, comprehensive set of principles and best practices that focus on continuous improvement and optimization of the manufacturing process. The goal is to eliminate wasteful use of resources for any goal other than creating value for the customer or end-user. Through the successful implantation of Lean manufacturing principles, organizations gain a competitive edge by reducing costs, increasing quality and proactively anticipating customer needs.
