STOPware Announces New Visitor Management Solution

STOPware Inc. recently announced a new solution to provide visitor management outside traditional lobby or kiosk stations. The system, featuring STOPware’s PassagePoint Global v10 installed on a Panasonic Toughbook U1 ultra mobile PC with embedded mobile broadband, was unveiled at ISC West.

“Physical security system applications are becoming increasingly mobile and technology is both driving the change and evolving to keep pace with it,” said Paul Terschuren, vice president of sales and marketing for STOPware. “The integration of our powerful PassagePoint Global v10 Visitor Management Software with Panasonic’s renowned Toughbook computers is an all-in-one solution designed to address the migration to mobile solutions.”

To meet the needs of customers with multiple facilities or where the presence of physical security needs to be obvious, such as in schools, STOPware has integrated PassagePoint Global v10 with Panasonic’s reliable Toughbook U1 to provide an all-in-one visitor management solution that can be used anywhere wireless service is available.

Data is collected using the Toughbook ultra mobile rugged UMPC loaded with PassagePoint Global v10 and is dynamically uploaded via an 802.11 wireless connection to the user’s main PassagePoint Server.

Applications for STOPware’s new mobile visitor management solution include schools where mobile security guards can scan student IDs to validate their status. The system is also well-suited for gatehouse or guardhouse sites, where visitors, contractors and service providers, etc., can be checked in with PassagePoint software using the Toughbook U1.

STOPware’s PassagePoint Global v10 Visitor Management Software is a sophisticated enterprise-level solution that is designed to seamlessly integrate with security and business systems. It offers integration with IT infrastructure to link to any ODBC or LDAP directory systems, as well as the capability to create a directory of hosts, integrate with an Active Directory, or even use the employee directory for a single sign-on.

Additional features of PassagePoint Global v10 include: Notifier e-mail notification capabilities; a Control Center function to help manage logistics of all satellite locations; live background checks of visitors against Internet databases; a Type Ahead feature to help avoid duplicate entries and save time with repeat visitors; a kiosk configuration for high-traffic or unmanned lobbies; Web pre-registration to help avoid visitor management bottlenecks; and activation of visitors’ access control system rights.

Panasonic’s Toughbook U1 computing device is a powerful mobile solution featuring integrated Wi-Fi, USB and SD card slots, backlit QWERTY keyboard and a 5.6” WSVGA sunlight-viewable touch screen. The Toughbook U1 is the industry’s first ultra mobile rugged PC to integrate the new low power Intel Atom processor.

With the introduction of the extremely portable Toughbook U1, remote workers are able to connect to critical information and applications in real time, improving organizational efficiency, increasing information accuracy and enabling field-based decision-making. The U1 is the lightest and toughest Toughbook computer that allows users to stay connected without sacrificing power.
