Europeans Show And Tell

Day two at IFSEC proved to be much busier in terms of attendance. The IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2009 were handed out later in the evening at a black-tie gala dinner, organized in association with the British Security Industry Association.

The awards acknowledge the people, products and technological advancements that have played a role in the security industry over the past year.

Earning top honors, TAB Systems Inc. won the Access Control product of the year with its smarti ELECTRA. The Slovenian company combined multimodal biometric access control-based on facial and voice recognition with myriad of other features that makes it a good choice for a wide range of categories.

The CCTV product of the year was won by SANYO Europe with its VCC-HD4000P. This is a 4 megapixel, H.264, high definition camera. It has the latest compression technology that enables it to stream very high resolution real time moving images to the network.

Winner of the Intruder Alarm product of the year goes to Optex (Europe) with its RLS-3060 Redscan. And, the Communication product of the year goes to CSL DualCom with its DualCom DigiPlus.

Dedicated Micros wins the Integrated security product of the year with an emergency messaging and mass notification system, and Siemens Building Technologies Security Solutions was named the security products or installation of the year winner.

“Each year the IFSEC Security Industry Awards demonstrate the breadth and depth of innovation in our industry,” said Alex Carmichael, BSIA technical director.

Carmichael also said he was impressed by the level of creativity and commitment in the industry and, you know what, so am I. IFSEC was a nice mirror of what is showcased every year in the United States. The standards of new product entries seem to get higher every year, and this year has proven no different.
