Avigilon HD Surveillance System Protects Athletes, Fans At Toronto Track Meet

In June, the University of Toronto hosted a world-class track and field meet featuring such renowned international athletes as Usain Bolt and Shawn Chambers, gold and silver medalists at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Making the safety and security of spectators and athletes a top priority, U of T deployed the Avigilon HD Surveillance System including two Avigilon 16 megapixel HD IP cameras and Avigilon Control Center network video management software.

“Securing a large stadium facility like the Varsity Center poses a number of challenges to security staff,” said Dan Hutt director of campus police service at the University of Toronto. “We worked closely with the experts at Avigilon to quickly install a high definition surveillance system which ultimately helped ensure that we could deliver an incident free event.”

“The University of Toronto organized an impressive world-class track and field event that attracted 7,000 spectators plus athletes, coaches, and other support staff from around the world,” said Dave Tynan, vice president of global sales at Avigilon. “By proactively deploying Avigilon’s high definition surveillance system, organizers were able to deliver the full situational awareness and detail needed to ensure the safety of attendees and athletes.”
