OnSSI Software Manages Live Video At Anaheim Convention Center

During ASIS 2009, surveillance cameras powered by software from On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI) provided images to the networked video surveillance system at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Visitors to OnSSI’s booth viewed a demonstration of the management of selected live video camera streams from the Convention Center using OnSSI’s Ocularis DS IP video management platform solution.

Also demonstrated was the live application of Ocularis VideoSynopsis, the uniquely embedded video synopsis technology from BriefCam, in addition to numerous access control integrations, radiation detection integration and advanced video analytics functionality.

In the current Anaheim Convention Center implementation, OnSSI’s NetDVMS 6.5 provides the convention center's security and management personnel with access to video to enable recording, archiving and event management from anywhere on the network.

The Universal Camera Support feature of NetDVMS 6.5 accommodates 200 cameras at the convention center, including megapixel and other network cameras from numerous suppliers and legacy analog cameras which have been integrated using digital encoders.

The ASIS International show was one of the largest for the Anaheim Convention Center, the highly visible nerve center of Anaheim and part of a 1,100-acre resort area that includes two Walt Disney theme parks and nearby convention hotels. The OnSSI system handles video surveillance of Anaheim Convention Center events throughout the year.

“From the very beginning, the OnSSI system has been an indispensable tool to help us monitor the facility from a security, public safety and operational standpoint,” said Tim Gillilan tenant services manager of the Anaheim Convention Center, who oversees crowd control, first aid and building security as part of his job. “We have come to rely on it.”

With OnSSI’s NetDVMS 6.5, video recording is triggered by motion detection, making the system more efficient and limiting bandwidth usage by recording video only when needed. The system records through a fiber-optic link to a storage area network supplying 62 Terabytes of storage.

Ocularis DS from OnSSI is a large-scale IP video management platform designed for multi-site/multi-server VMS, NVR and camera management applications, and to facilitate integration with other physical security and related applications. NetDVMS 6.5 provides powerful, enterprise-level recording, archiving and event management capabilities for an unlimited number of cameras through convergence with physical security and IT systems, advanced content analytics modules and Universal Camera Support.

The Anaheim Convention Center is preparing to upgrade to Ocularis, the latest open-architecture, IP-based video management and control solution from OnSSI, which provides a highly intuitive, unified user interface.

“We are proud that the Anaheim Convention Center itself showcases a real-world example of the usefulness of OnSSI software to transform the value of video and boost the effectiveness of security and building management at a large facility,” said Gadi Piran, OnSSI's president and CTO. “Attendees to ASIS International got a real-world snapshot of the way our technology works and the advantages it provides.”
