Avigilon Control Center Earns Innovative Achievement Award

Avigilon’s flagship product, Avigilon Control Center, was awarded the "Innovative Achievement Award" in the category of CCTV in the annual Detektor International Awards.

"The Detektor International Award has gained its prestige as the only internationally established industry product prize where security suppliers cannot nominate their products," said Lennart Alexandrie, editor-in-chief of Detektor International as well as managing director of the Publishing House AR Media International. "To create this list of winners, our editorial board thoroughly researched new product releases over the past 12 months. Winning the 'Innovative Achievement' award in the highly competitive CCTV category, Avigilon Control Center has demonstrated continual technological innovation."

The Detektor International Award is chosen solely by an independent editorial board. The editorial team of Detektor, a Sweden-based security publication, researches the nominees from a list of new product releases over the previous 12 months.

"Since its release, Avigilon Control Center Network Video Management Software (NVMS) has continued to garner praise from customers, analysts, and press for delivering a complete and open HD surveillance solution at exceptional value," said Dave Tynan, vice president of global sales and marketing at Avigilon. "We are extremely pleased to be chosen for this award by the highly regarded editorial board at Detektor."

Avigilon designs, manufactures, and markets award-winning HD surveillance systems. The enterprise-class NVMS platform, Avigilon Control Center, was engineered from the ground up to intelligently manage HD video, delivering both situational awareness and complete image detail. The software captures, transmits, manages, stores, archives, plays back and exports HD video while efficiently handling bandwidth and storage. The software’s modular, open architecture allows system designers to integrate Avigilon solutions with existing assets including analog and IP cameras, access control and other intrusion systems.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
