AlertEnterprise Debuts Cybersecurity Compliance Solution for Nuclear Industry

AlertEnterprise Inc. has introduced a cybersecurity and compliance automation solution for the nuclear industry. The solution is the industry’s first integrated NEI 08-09 cybersecurity and compliance solution designed to analyze risks across IT, physical access and process control systems.

The AlertEnterprise solution will enable nuclear power plants to automate required assessments, reduce complexity and eliminate silos to maintain a repeatable and sustainable compliance process. “The flexibility of AlertEnterprise multi-regulatory compliance solutions means that changes to regulations like 10 CFR 73.54 and best practice frameworks can easily be incorporated into the compliance software without the need for re-deployment, including when a new standard like NEI 10-09 is instituted,” said AlertEnterprise founder and CEO Jasvir Gill. “Our solution will provide the nuclear industry with the facelift it deserves.”

The nuclear industry is facing a huge pain around assessment, particularly as it pertains to the Critical Digit Asset assessment for NEI 08-09. NEI, the Nuclear Energy Institute and expert industry body that comprises plant owners and operators, has published a detailed set of guidelines for the nuclear industry to abide by when filing cybersecurity plans as required by the NRC. Billed as NEI 08-09, these include requirements for security assessments of critical systems and assets related to safety, security and emergency preparedness. AlertEnterprise has created a comprehensive solution to resolve this pain by delivering identification, classification and assessment of CDAs and the application of appropriate controls in a sustainable and efficient business process. AlertEnterprise helps eliminate time-consuming and extensive manual processes, producing quick results in both assessment and documentation.

AlertEnterprise compliance automation, cybersecurity and smart grid solutions are in operation at many utilities, including Florida Power & Light/NextEra, Allegheny Energy, OG&E, Toronto Hydro and NIPSCO. AlertEnterprise software works with existing enterprise applications like SAP and Oracle, as well as with physical access controls systems  from major vendors like GE, Lenel, Tyco, Johnson Controls, Cisco and Honeywell. AlertEnterprise has the additional unique ability to monitor alerts and events from control systems from vendors like ABB, Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson, SEL and GE, which gives AlertEnterprise a unique advantage to fully support compliance with NERC CIP, CFATS, FERC Standards of Conduct, NIST SP800-53, FISMA requirements and many others.
