Wavesight Technology Delivers High Bandwidth Video Transmission Over Wireless Bridges

Exhibiting at IFSEC 2011 and on the ISM Intelligent Integration Zone, Wavesight will be demonstrating UK designed and manufactured technology capable of delivering high bandwidth video transmission over low power, licensed and unlicensed wireless bridges.

Wavesight outdoor wireless communications solutions are gaining substantial market traction with security and surveillance systems integrators globally. Featuring extremely high levels of data security and SPG1 -- Wavesight’s own data compression technology, Wavesight wireless links provide low latency, high quality video links ideally suited to modern security and surveillance installations. The WaveSprint, WaveFlow and WaveMax wireless bridging systems provide secure, high bandwidth video communications over distances of up to 40km, on unlicensed 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Wavesight’s wireless transmission solutions deliver class-leading performance at a price-point substantially lower than competing systems.

WaveSprint provides short distance wireless bridging, with data rates of up to 108Mbps, at distances up to 2 km. WaveFlow meets requirements for wider area communications at distances up to 5 km with data rates up to 108Mbps in turbo mode, while WaveMax offers up to 600Mbps (802.11n) and distances up to 40km.

These three product ranges succeed where competing technologies fail in providing high quality, low latency wireless video transmission over long distances. The Wavesight wireless product range is robust in build quality as well as performance, the latter primarily due to utilising OFDM modulation, whilst highly secure thanks to 128-bit AES encryption, TKIP and SPG1.

Wavesight’s wireless links are supplied with the comprehensive Wavesight RFAnalyser software suite for easy set-up and configuration. RFAnalyser’s link performance features allow the user to see and log RSSI, data rate, throughput and channel utilisation, per link, in real-time. SNMP support allows easy integration into third party network management solutions.

All products are ruggedized to exceed IP67 protection standards and provide 24/7, all-weather reliability in outdoor installations. The housings are manufactured from resilient, vandal-resistant ABS and alloy for long-term durability.

These next-generation, high performance wireless systems provide an unmatched combination of speed of installation, flexibility and bandwidth to meet increasingly demanding communications requirements. They eliminate the cost, planning delays and disruption associated with installing cable or leasing lines, delivering a faster return on investment while providing a readily re-deployable asset.

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types. A8V MIND

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
