IndigoVision's New Audio Forensics Designed to Locate Evidence Fast

IndigoVision, manufacturer of end-to-end IP Video security, introduces Audio Forensics to its management system. High-quality, two-way, fully synchronised audio is streamed and recorded alongside video and can now be searched using audio as well as video analytics to quickly locate incidents.

Audio Forensics let operators search recorded footage faster and more dynamically than just passively listening during playback. Identifying an incident that’s happened outside the camera’s field of view, such as a broken window or a shout, provides another way to find evidence. Incidents are located using an audio search filter and results displayed in a thumbnail timeline, allowing operators to search through hours of footage in seconds. Once an event is identified, simply 'double-clicking' the thumbnail will start video and audio playback from that point.

“The ability to rapidly search recordings for audio incidents makes the IndigoVision system significantly more responsive and adaptable to the policing industry," said Chad Wright, general manager of Naskam Security, an Australian-based national video and alarm monitoring centre. "These useful tools help law enforcement agencies to speed up their investigations and provide tamperproof audio and video evidence for use in court.”

Quality audio is important for applications such as law enforcement interviews. IndigoVision’s fully synchronized audio ensures perfect lip sync and its unique guarantee not to drop any audio or video frames means nothing is missed. This gives integrity to audio-video evidence since it is less susceptible to interpretation in court.

Other uses of audio include intercoms, public help points, covert surveillance and message broadcast. IndigoVision’s Public Address (PA) capability lets you broadcast pre-recorded messages automatically on alarms. For example, “Step back from the edge” can keep passengers safer on rail platforms. “Leave this zone - you are not authorised to be here” can be broadcast automatically on video analytics or intruder alarms.

IndigoVision has video encoders and IP cameras with built-in audio, allowing a microphone and speaker to be connected. Audio is converted to mono or stereo using AAC-LC for excellent quality at minimal bandwidth. As with video, audio can be dual-streamed to further reduce network bandwidth: high-quality for a local Network Video Recorder (NVR); lower quality for remote monitoring. This opens up use of WANs including wireless.

IndigoVision’s security management software, SMS4, provides sophisticated tools for evidence gathering. Evidence is exported using watermarking and encryption and is verified in court as ‘untampered’ using IndigoVision’s ‘Incident Player’. Several time-synchronised camera views can be exported together, allowing incidents to be followed across disparate areas or to have multiple views of the same incident.

  • The Future is Happening Outside the Cloud

For years, the cloud has captivated the physical security industry. And for good reason. Remote access, elastic scalability and simplified maintenance reshaped how we think about deploying and managing systems. But as the number of cameras grows and resolutions push from HD to 4K and beyond, the cloud’s limits are becoming unavoidable. Bandwidth bottlenecks. Latency lags. Rising storage costs. These are not abstract concerns. Read Now

  • Unlocking Trustworthy AI: Building Transparency in Security Governance

In situations where AI supports important security tasks like leading investigations and detecting threats and anomalies, transparency is essential. When an incident occurs, investigators must trace the logic behind each automated response to confirm its validity or spot errors. Demanding interpretable AI turns opaque “black boxes” into accountable partners that enhance, rather than compromise, organizational defense. Read Now

  • Seeking Innovative Solutions

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. You may recognize these terms as the “5 Phases” of a grieving process, but they could easily describe the phases one goes through before adopting any new or emerging innovation or technology, especially in a highly risk-averse industry like security. However, the desire for convenience in all aspects of modern life is finally beginning to turn the tide from old school hardware as the go-to towards more user-friendly, yet still secure, door solutions. A8V MIND

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
