Arlington National Cemetery Records Preservation and Documentation Project Completed

AITHERAS LLC has successfully completed a project that provided record scanning and documentation support to Arlington National Cemetery.

In 2010, Arlington National Cemetery identified a collection of burial records needing to be converted and indexed into an electronic document. The records were of various sizes, conditions and ages, with some documenting Civil War burials. The Arlington National Cemetery project converted the burial records into digital format and indexed the records with metadata related to the deceased individual.

AITHERAS, utilizing its own Nez data management platform, was selected to package, receive, inventory, track, scan, index, perform quality control and return to the government all original documents in their original order and accompanying electronic files. This included packaging and transportation of the original records from ANC to the contractor location, ensuring security and exercising due diligence to the preservation of all records during packing, loading, transportation, scanning, repacking, and delivery to government in accordance with best business practices. AITHERAS was fully responsible for the safeguarding of all material upon identification of records to be moved and for ensuring that the contents of material were protected and not publicly released.

"We feel exceptionally privileged to have been in the position to work with the records from the Arlington National Cemetery," said Andrew Milisits, managing partner and founder of AITHERAS LLC. "The job required processing and analyzing an estimated 520,000 records -- all pertaining to fallen military men and women who served our nation, many of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. To be able to help, in some way, pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of every individual laid to rest in these hallowed grounds is truly an honor."
