Mobotix Installs Cameras in Retirement Community

Mobotix, a software company that provides high-resolution and network-based security solutions, has deployed 37 cameras at the National Lutheran Communities and Services' Village at Rockville in Maryland.

Mototix installed the cameras to help deter crime and ensure residents' safety.

The cameras monitor high-traffic areas like entrances, exits and hallways. Three of the cameras can buzz in residents and visitors using facial recognition. Other cameras, called D12, work during the day and night and allow NLCS to monitor outdoor activity. The D12 cameras also use PTZ capabiolity to see specific areas.

Each camera uses a high-speed computer and internal flash memory card to record and store activity on the camera, reducing the need for a separte PC or DVR.

“The fact that the cameras offer motion detection and PTZ functionality, and the system doesn’t overwhelm the NLCS network made the Mobotix solution ideal,” said Kim Hartman, CEO of Surveillance Secure, the systems integrator on the project. “The system can also be easily expanded upon to meet the company’s plans for future surveillance growth.”

“NLCS has created an environment where they can ensure a high-level of security and provide timely response to emergencies, while still allowing residents to maintain independence,” said Steve Gorski, general manager of Mobotix. “It is exciting to see our solutions leveraged in such a creative way to improve quality of life.”
