iOmniscient Wins Award for Major Oil Pipeline Protection Project

iOmniscient has just received the PACE Zenith Award in the “Mining, Minerals & Exploration Industries in Australia” category for its implementation of iQ-Oil & Gas for British Petroleum in Azerbaijan.

The British Petroleum (BP) pipeline in Azerbaijan is one of the world’s longest oil pipelines and passes through very harsh dessert terrain with extreme environmental conditions.  The previous system implemented by BP was not able to detect people or objects moving slowly or in the dark and provided a high number of false alarms.

For this reason, BP selected iOmniscient to implement its iQ-Oil & Gas system for the project combined with the HealthCheck system to detect if a camera is malfunctioning or damaged. The system was smart enough to differentiate between human intruders and small wildlife and being armed with its Nuisance Alarm Minimization System (NAMS) it could operate with a minimum of false alarms.
BP was delighted with the results from the Azerbaijan project that it has now standardized on using iOmniscient’s intelligent technology for all its pipelines worldwide.

iOmniscient’s comprehensive portfolio of Intelligent Video Analytics and Automated Surveillance products are not just for security but to improve the efficiency of operations for both the Mining and the Oil and Gas industries. Applications are available for safety, security and the operational efficiency of mines, refineries, rigs and pipelines and also for the infrastructure that they use such as the roads, trains and ports (land and seaside).

The PACE Zenith award joins a long list of iOmniscient’s international awards, including IFSEC 2011 “CCTV System of the Year” for the world’s first Face Recognition in a Crowd system and the Global Security Challenge 2010 for crowded places.

  • From Monitors to Mission Control

Security Operations Centers (SOC) were once defined by rows of static monitors, each displaying a single feed with operators quietly watching for issues. That model has become obsolete. Incidents evolve too quickly, data comes from multiple locations, and decisions must be made in seconds—not minutes. Read Now

Snap One has announced its popular Luma x20 family of surveillance products now offers even greater security and privacy for home and business owners across the globe by giving them full control over integrators’ system access to view live and recorded video. According to Snap One Product Manager Derek Webb, the new “customer handoff” feature provides enhanced user control after initial installation, allowing the owners to have total privacy while also making it easy to reinstate integrator access when maintenance or assistance is required. This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.”
