Arecont Vision's New MegaBall All-in-One H.264 Camera Rounds Out Compact Megapixel Lineup

Arecont Vision recently announced the latest addition to their award-winning IP megapixel camera lineup -- the new MegaBall series. Introduced at ASIS 2012, MegaBall comes in a spherically shaped all-in-one camera form factor, and provides a wide variety of configuration options to give security professionals the installation flexibility to meet the exacting needs of their customers.

The MegaBall camera series comes with a dual encoder H.264/MJPEG and is available in several resolutions, including 1.3, 1080p, 3 and 5 megapixels. The compact, attractive cameras have flexible installation options, including bracket or dome configurations, a choice of varifocal or fixed focal lens and color or day/night functionality. MegaBall installation is made easier with a choice of PoE (Power over Ethernet) or external power, an integrated cable management structure and an external lens adjustment capability.

"By delivering high-performance, low cost and easy to install solutions, Arecont Vision is once again demonstrating its commitment to addressing evolving customer needs," said Raul Calderon, Senior Vice President, Arecont Vision. "The MegaBallTM cameras combine a broad array of resolutions and features in an aesthetically pleasing, all-in-one design."

MegaBall cameras include dual H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10) and MJPEG encoders, forensic zooming, privacy mask, extended motion detection grid, flexible cropping, multi-streaming (8 non-identical streams) and bit rate control. There are two lenses currently available for this camera series: a 4mm lens and a 3.3- 12mm varifocal lens. Once installed, the camera lens can be conveniently focused with a Torx-head screwdriver using the external lens adjustment for focus, zoom and exposure.

The three-inch diameter, spherically-shaped MegaBall cameras are constructed of metal to provide a more ruggedized indoor solution. It is available in three easy-to-install configurations: a mounting bracket, a surface mount dome or an in-ceiling mount dome. An optional bubble is available for the dome configurations. Installation is easy with PoE or external power (12-48V DC and 24V AC) options, as well as installer-friendly cable management.

The camera is also ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) conformant.
