Following a bomb threat at the Admissions Building, parts of Texas State University in San Marcos were evacuated and closed early Thursday morning. The emergency alert was canceled at noon.
The evacuation orders extended from the Admissions Building to The Tower and San Jacinto resident halls. The University Police Department consulted with the FBI and the Austin Bomb Squad in their investigation of the threat. The two residence halls have since reopened, and classes have resumed as scheduled.
The threat came in the form of an email to a Houston-area admissions counselor. The counselor, who works from home, quickly informed her supervisors of the threat, who contacted the University Police Department.
This latest threat comes on the heels of similar threats at the University of Texas in Austin, as well as North Dakota State University.
