A Halloween party at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles took an unexpected turn for the worse when an argument escalated into gunfire. One man was critically wounded, with three other people suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Capt. David Carlisle of the university’s department of public safety, the shooting stemmed from an argument between two men late Wednesday night, with the suspect shooting a man in the torso. Those injured were taken to local area hospitals, and campus remained on lockdown for several hours following the event.
Carlisle noted that two people were currently in custody. He also stated that none of the shooting victims were associated with the school.
"This is the first violent crime we've had on campus this year," Carlisle said.
Classes on Thursday are being held as usual.
