aptiQ USB and Serial Enrollment Readers Simplify Credential Enrollment
Ingersoll Rand announced that access control administrators can now simplify credential enrollment by using one of two new readers, the aptiQ SUSB89 USB Reader or the aptiQ Serial Enrollment Reader, to enroll a smart card into their access control system using their own computer. No software is required to operate either reader. Both readers function on any operating system. This automatic transfer of information makes it much easier for the user and saves significant time.
Each reader is compatible with aptiQ smart credentials, including MIFARE Classic and MIFARE DESfire EV1, both of which provide higher security than traditional proximity cards. They also recognize PIV (Personal Identify Verification) cards as used by the Federal Government and its contractors.
“Traditionally, to enroll a smart card, the administrator had to type in the credential information manually into their access control or other systems,” said Jeremy Earles, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, portfolio manager, credentials and readers. “Now, the administrator has a much easier solution – just plug the enrollment reader into one’s computer, present the aptiQ smart card to the reader and the card information populates automatically.”
The new readers will be featured in the Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies booth 20229 at the ISC West Exposition to be held at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas April 10-12.
