The Results are in for the SIA New Product Showcase’s Two Most Coveted Awards

The anticipation has been building, and I got to witness the results! Each year, at ISC West, new products and technologies are presented and demonstrated in the SIA New Product Showcase. Each product and technology is reviewed by a panel of judges who have at least 7 years of experience in recommending security products whether as a distributor, end user, consultant, integrator, etc. Product categories include access control, alarms and monitoring, biometrics, fire control, networked security products, public security and safety, remote monitoring, systems integration, video surveillance, wireless applications and more.

The top awards, and I would assume the most coveted, are the "Best New Product," which honors the company that best represents innovation, technology, value and a real-world solution, while the "Judge's Choice" recognizes the company that just fell short of these top requirements. So, now that you know the criteria, let's take a look at the two winners!

The "Best New Product" award was given to Innovative Security Designs from Irvine, California for their product called Lynx. Described as the first edge-computing platform for video surveillance to run Microsoft-embedded Windows, Lynx is a camera as well as a computing platform delivering HD, megapixel, multi-streaming, 1080p30 broadcast-quality, encased video with a fully-integrated IP66 dome enclosure.

The "Judge's Choice" award was given to 3M Cogent for their MiY-Touch Indoor Biometric Touch-Screen Access Control Reader. This highly-sophisticated, accurate, customizable biometric, physical access control terminal is designed for fast authentication, efficient entry and time and attendance. Featuring a fingerprint scanner and a touch-screen interface, this small, fast reader is sleek and compact in design.

Awards were also presented in a total of 21 product and service categories along with seven honorable mentions.
