Axis Introduces Attractively Priced Outdoor Ready Vandal Resistant Fixed Mini Domes

Axis Introduces Attractively Priced Outdoor Ready Vandal Resistant Fixed Mini DomesAxis Communications, a network video surveillance solution provider, announces two new AXIS M30 Series Network Cameras to address the security market’s need for outdoor-ready and vandal-resistant fixed mini domes with HDTV and day/night video performance at an affordable price. AXIS M3024-LVE with integrated IR illumination and AXIS M3025-VE are easy to install for indoor and outdoor surveillance needs of small- to mid-sized installations such as at retail outlets, schools, restaurants and offices.

AXIS M3024-LVE provides 1-megapixel or HDTV 720p video with an 80° field of view while AXIS M3025-VE delivers 2-megapixel or HDTV 1080p video with a wide 93° viewing angle.

Both cameras have an automatic infrared(IR)-cut filter to allow the cameras to capture color video during daytime conditions and make use of the unseen IR light in low-light conditions for high-quality, black and white video. AXIS M3024-LVE further enables surveillance in complete darkness when using its built-in IR LED illumination (see demo movie).

AXIS M3024-LVE and AXIS M3025-VE are also the first outdoor-ready fixed domes in the affordable Axis M-line series to feature a microSDXC card slot that can be used for redundant edge storage in a mid- to large-scale video management software-based system, or as part of a free AXIS Camera Companion solution for 16-cameras-or-less, where all video is recorded directly onto the IP cameras or a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device.

Other features include:

  • Intelligent video applications, such as video motion detection and tampering alarm, as well as downloadable applications via AXIS Camera Application Platform (e.g., people counting, heat mapping, license plate recognition);
  • Multiple, individually-configurable streams in H.264 and Motion JPEG video formats;
  • Enhanced alarm management with one input/one output for connecting external devices;
  • Wide Dynamic Range with dynamic contrast for handling difficult lighting conditions; and
  • Support for Axis’ Corridor Format for portrait oriented, 9:16 video streams to maximize coverage of areas like hallways and aisles.

AXIS M3024-LVE and AXIS M3025-VE, which come focused at delivery, enable quick and easy installation, and are perfect for monitoring entrance and exit points. They can be mounted onto walls or ceilings, and the camera direction can be easily adjusted. The cameras come with a 6.6 ft. network cable and are powered using Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). Separate outdoor housings are not required as the cameras’ enclosures are IP66 and NEMA 4X rated to ensure protection against dust, rain, snow and corrosion.

“While AXIS M30-VE cameras might be small in size and low in price, they are large in benefits,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. “AXIS M30-VE cameras will be extremely attractive for all types of professional installations for high-performing outdoor and vandal-resistant surveillance, but particularly in the price-sensitive, small system market where IP video is quickly growing to overtake the analog CCTV incumbent.”

AXIS M30 cameras will be supported by AXIS Camera Station as well as third-party video management software applications through Axis’ Application Development Partner program. The cameras also support AXIS Video Hosting System and ONVIF for easy system integration.

AXIS M3024-LVE and AXIS M3025-VE are expected to be available in Q3 2013 through Axis’ distribution channels at the suggested retail price of $549 for both the AXIS M3024-LVE and the AXIS M3025-VE.
