2nd Annual Career Pavilion at ASIS 2013

Attendees of ASIS 2013 and the third annual (ISC)² Security Congress will get answers to their career-related questions and challenges, and learn how best to position themselves on the job and in leadership roles at the 2nd Annual Career Pavilion, taking place September 24-26 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. Sponsored by the University of Phoenix, the Pavilion will feature free career coaching, resume reviews, education sessions and career services.

The Pavilion is open to all attendees of ASIS 2013 and the (ISC)² Security Congress.

“We launched the Career Pavilion at ASIS 2012 and were overwhelmed by the positive response,” said Geoffrey T. Craighead, CPP, president, ASIS International. “This year, thanks to the generous support of the University of Phoenix, ASIS and (ISC)² members and volunteer leaders, we are pleased to offer attendees even more services—free of charge.”

Career services and resources include:

  • Complimentary resume reviews and career coaching;
  • Information on ASIS & (ISC)² certifications; and
  • Access to online career development tools and job postings.

Daily panel sessions include:

  • CSOs and deputies sharing their career path stories;
  • Security employers discussing in-demand skill sets; and
  • Resume development and interviewing tips and techniques.

Eve Adams, senior talent acquisition expert at Halock Security Labs, will offer resume tips in a session called “Hack the Hustle - Career Strategies for Information Security Professionals” on September 24. This talk will offer ideas for those just entering the workforce, mid-career security professionals and former hackers alike.

In addition, on the Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, September 26, American Military University will host a special panel session focused on transitioning to private sector security.

Computers will be available for attendees to review available job openings on the ASIS and (ISC)² online career centers, as well as to create job seeker profiles, upload resumes and view additional career resources.

W. Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, executive director for (ISC)² added, “Our latest research confirms the information security workforce crisis is acute. Career development opportunities, like those offered through the Career Pavilion, are vital to provide professionals in this industry the tools for new skills that meet the demands of today’s job market.”

The exhibit floor at ASIS 2013 will feature 700+ companies demonstrating security technology and innovations, along with cutting-edge products and services, covering more than 230,000 net square feet. More than 20,000 security, business and government professionals from 90 countries are expected to attend. The comprehensive education program will offer 200+ sessions.

This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.” 3
