Precise Biometrics Announces the Global Launch of Tactivo Mini for Android

Precise Biometrics Announces the Global Launch of Tactivo Mini for AndroidPrecise Biometrics, an authentication solutions provider and innovative developer of Tactivo, a smart card and fingerprint reader, announced that it has expanded its current product line with the global launch of Tactivo Mini for Android. This most recent innovation allows Precise Biometrics to extend its footprint outside of its existing iOS-based products and solutions to provide additional authentication capabilities to Android users, particularly those within the federal government and enterprise market spaces.

The new Tactivo Mini offering represents Precise Biometrics’ first foray into supporting the Android operating system. This area has become an increasingly larger player on the technological stage in recent years. Developed for use as a dongle for Android devices, the new Tactivo mini for Android will serve a specific and growing need across the government market to maximize current PKI solutions to allow users to easily and securely move from desktop to mobile access going forward. The Android solution will also be available for use across a wide range of devices and other mobile operating systems.

“We are excited to announce our most recent product expansion as well as our new capabilities specifically targeting the global Android space,” CEO & President of Precise Biometrics, Thomas Marschall stated, “We have continued to receive positive feedback for our new offering from a number of selected partners who received it in Beta, and we look forward to the expanded market potential this new solution will bring for Precise Biometrics going forward, as we are now able to cover over 90% of the smartphones and tablets in our target segments.”

One critical, distinguishing factor between the new Android offering and previous iOS-based solutions is the more open development environment and access to a “shared library” that exists across the Android landscape compared to the iOS “Sandbox.” This capability, along with the increased usage of Android devices across key government and enterprise organizations, has led the charge for Precise Biometrics’ development and launch of this new solution.

In addition to the new Tactivo Mini for Android, a complementary, mobile toolkit written in Java is also available to app developers,. Tactivo Mini is also available in an iOS version, MFi certified by Apple and based on the new Apple Lightning Connector.
