International Tourism Safety Conference Will Co-Locate With ISC West

The International Tourism Safety Association, the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association, and ISC West announced an agreement in which they will co-locate their events in one venue in 2014. Both the International Tourism Safety Conference and ISC West will be held during the first week in April 2014 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The International Tourism Safety Conference is an annual gathering for hundreds of safety and security officials in the travel and tourism industry worldwide and focuses on providing delegates with new information, trends, equipment, strategies and best practices in keeping visitors safe. The conference, which first began in 1992, is hosted by the International Tourism Safety Association, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association.

ISC West is the largest physical security tradeshow in North America and is considered the security industry’s premier launching pad for new products, solutions and technologies. Each year, ISC West hosts more than 1,000 international and domestic security product manufacturer companies and more than 26,000 security professionals. In addition to the 10,000+ products featured on its show floor, ISC West offers business critical education sessions on the newest technologies in security, with more than 75 sessions designed for every security professional. The event is sponsored by SIA, the Security Industry Association.

“This is a great opportunity for attendees of both events as they’ll be able to share more information and gain added insight on the latest safety strategies, technology and equipment,” said Ray Suppe, president of International Tourism Safety Association and director of security for the LVCVA. “Providing a safe and secure experience for visitors is a top priority for any city’s tourism industry, and by combining our events, we’ll be able to offer more training and collaboration which ultimately helps ensure the safety of visitors in destinations and attractions here in Las Vegas and around the world.”

“ISC West is known as the launching pad for new physical security products and services,” said Ed Several, senior vice president and general manager, ISC Events. “We’re delighted to work with the International Tourism Safety Association to bring their members to the show, where they can see the newest products and technologies that can be immediately implemented in their organizations.”

Both the International Tourism Safety Conference and ISC West will each manage its own event but will combine some functions, such as the marketing, sharing meeting space and complementing show hours, where appropriate and for the benefit of attendees.

The International Tourism Safety Conference will be held April 2-3 with optional tours on April 4 and Tourism Oriented Policing and Protective Services (TOPPS) certification courses offered prior to the event on March 31 and April 1. ISC West will take place April 2 through April 4, with the SIA Education@ISC West beginning April 1.
