Gallagher showcases 'PIV solution with no bolt-ons' at GovSec

Gallagher Security, a global leader in the design and manufacture of innovative access control, intruder alarm and perimeter security systems, highlight its latest FIPS 201-2 compliant solution at GovSec 2014.

Unique features of the Gallagher PIV solution - currently undergoing Federal Identity, Credentialing, and Access Management (FICAM) end-to-end system approval - include the efficiency of its architecture, up to 50 per cent cost reductions on installation and space savings, and ease of installation and maintenance.

Without the need for additional hardware modules, or 'bolt-ons', to achieve compliance, the single management platform delivers a simplified implementation of a PIV-based Physical Access Control System (PACS), offering strong, real-time authentication of PIV, PIV-I, Common Access Card (CAC), and Transport Workers Identification Card (TWIC) credentials.

Central operation comes from the Gallagher Command Centre software which works seamlessly with the user's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and information technology network. Command Centre integrates electronic access control, intruder alarms management, perimeter security, validation, and compliance management in a single scalable platform and user interface.

Supporting the Command Centre is the Gallagher Controller 6000 (HS) PIV, which includes all of the authentication capabilities required by the FIPS 201-2 standard. The controller enables the use of the card authentication key (CAK) and meets the Federal enterprise-wide need for strong, contactless authentication at electronic access control points. One controller can manage up to 10 doors, and more than 100,000 people, with one server able to manage up to 1,000 controllers. A powerful, open application programming interface allows upstream connection to identity management and other enterprise services and systems.

Role-based and attribute-based access control is enforced at the door, with the system maintaining the access history of each individual across all cards, token or derived credentials, which they may have utilized. The system's integrated credential validation functionality completes the PKI capability required to meet Federal enterprise and federated identity demands.
