China to Punish Google, Apple and Microsoft for Spying

China’s People’s Daily, a state-operated media outlet, promised new regulations and punishments.

The priority is strengthening penalties and punishments, and for anyone who steals our information, even though they are far away, we shall punish them!”

(Of course, this is assuming that “the villain” is the NSA and “the pawns” are the companies suspected to be involved.)

In a more subdued translation by the English-language China Daily, it was printed that “online services have become a major way for the US to steal information globally.”

All companies suspected to have been involved have denied cooperating with NSA unless under law to do so.
