Elementary Schools in Winston-Salem, N.C., Install Security Cameras in Every Classroom

Elementary Schools in Winston-Salem, N.C., Install Security Cameras in Every ClassroomElementary schools in the one Winston-Salem, N.C., county will go back in session with added safety measures, according to a report. The students in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WSFCS) will now have sophisticated camera systems in each of their classrooms.

The cameras are in 43 schools and cover as much ground as possible, showing everything going on in the main parts of the schools.

“We have them at the front entrance, the main office, several corridors and the playground,” said Meadowlark Elementary principal Neil Raymer in the story. “All of the cameras are constantly recording, and you can go back several days with data.”

In another effort to improve security, GPS trackers have been installed on all buses. These trackers let school officials know where each bus is on the route and what their estimated ETAs are.

These changes come in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings. Although those shootings took place nearly two years ago, school systems all over the country are looking for ways to improve security and prevent any crimes from being committed on school grounds.
