A Guide to Protective Clothing for Security Personnel

4 Tips to Ensure Superb Usage of Protective Vests

To make sure you get the most out of your vest, Chris Taylor, communications director, Safe Guard Armor gives the following the tips: A Guide to Protective Clothing for Security Personnel

  • Clean with care. When cleaning your protective vest, never immerse it fully in water, as this can damage the fibers and negate its protective capabilities. Instead, just use a sponge with warm, soapy water, and clean the vest carefully.
  • Avoid damaged vests. When taking a vest from a stock of several, never wear one showing signs of damage. Holes and cuts can leave you unprotected. Always choose one without wear and tear.
  • No substitutes. Never use one vest instead of another if expecting a particular level of risk – a bulletproof vest will not stop blades, nor will a stab vest stop bullets.
  • Be prepared.  Never enter a potentially dangerous situation without adequate body armor. In order to protect people to the best of your abilities, you need to stay safe yourself.
