Panasonic Introduces New i-PRO ULTRA 360 Dome Cameras

Panasonic System Communications Company of North America recently announced its new i-PRO ULTRA 360 panoramic indoor (WV-SFV480) and outdoor (WV-SFN481) cameras that offer ultra high resolution, ultra sensitivity, ultra intelligence and ultra toughness.

Built on Panasonic's new, ground-breaking 12 megapixel 4K ULTRA HD engine, the ULTRA 360 cameras produce a 9MP 3K x 3K Fisheye image at 15fps and a 4MP Fisheye image at 30fps for incredibly high resolution at standard frame rates. The cameras' new ½" 12MP image sensor delivers high-sensitivity in color at less than 0.4 lux for sharp images in color and black-and-white and in the event the IR cut filter is removed to gain higher sensitivity under low-light, the Super Chroma Compensation (SCC) feature preserves full color rendition.

Further, a new Auto Back Focus (ABF) structure designed specifically for the cameras' single focus lens ensures both models automatically achieve optimal focus in day or night environments while helping to streamline installation.

"These ULTRA 360 cameras are built on a newly-developed 4K ULTRA HD imaging engine and are the first in a series of 4K video surveillance cameras coming from Panasonic," said Charlie Hare, Panasonic's National Category Manager, Security and Mobile Video Solutions. "We choose to implement 4K on 360° platform first because the high resolution images produced are particularly advantageous in this type of camera, delivering substantially more picture detail across the broad field of view offered in the panoramic format. And the cameras' new analytics functions will help businesses such as retail stores improve their operations."

The ULTRA 360 cameras newly developed Heat Map type analytic capabilities can aggregate a history of movement in a scene and also indicate dwell time in an easy to understand color overlay. Additional analytics include a 12-virtual-line, bi-directional "people counting" function to assist in quantifying activity in a scene. These new analytics are ideal for generating insight into floor behavior in retail environments to track people movement in public spaces.

Like all i-Pro cameras, the Ultra 360 cameras' on-board processor generates image corrected video in multiple display formats and has the ability to encode up to four H.264 streams simultaneously and offers JPEG modes for maximum flexibility. In addition, the ULTRA 360 cameras feature edge-ready recording with a single SDXC memory card slot, offering flexible record modes including alarm-recording and backup-recording in the event of a network failure.

Featuring an ultra tough, anti-shock vandal resistant chassis that meets IP66 standards for dust and water resistance and EN 50155 compliant for on-vehicle applications, the ULTRA 360 cameras are ready for installation in vehicles such as buses and trains.

Panasonic's entire portfolio of security solutions for businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, government and transit organizations, will be showcased at booth 510 at the ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits, September 29-October 2, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The WV-SFV481 and WV-SFN481 will be available in December through authorized Panasonic resellers.
