At least one gunman has been shot dead inside of Canada’s Parliament buildings in Ottawa this morning, according to multiple reports. Video and tweets have been posted, even capturing live footage of gunfire being exchanged.
The CBC confirmed that one shooter was shot dead, and it’s not yet clear whether there are other gunmen in the area but the national police force has advised everyone in downtown Ottawa to stay away from windows and roofs.
A gunman had hit one soldier who was guarding a war memorial in the capital, then allegedly making his/her way towards the Parliament buildings. The victim was taken to the hospital and police have since closed off the area.
The Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is safe and has been moved from Parliament Hill, which is currently on lockdown.
