U.S. Military Warned about ISIS Threat within America’s Borders

After gaining fresh intelligence that ISIS wants to recruit and inspire sympathizers inside America’s borders to hurt military members at their place of residence, last night, the FBI, along with the Department of Homeland Security issued the strongest warning to date: Those who serve or have served in uniform should cleanse their social media accounts of anything that could possibly bring unwanted attention from violent extremists or that would help them learn individual service members’ identities. Troops also need to exercise operational security with their online interactions.

This threat is so serious that some U.S. special operations and other military branches have deactivated, scrubbed or locked their Facebook and other personal social media accounts.

And, lest we forget of ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani’s audio speech posted online from September 21, 2014, calling all Muslims in the U.S. and Europe to attach members of the military.

“Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict,” Adnani said. “Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling. Both of them are disbelievers. Both of them are considered to be waging war.”

Because of the severity of this threat and the emphasis put on it by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, I would also advise everyone with a family member that is or was military to lay low on social media because these extremists, such as ISIS, are dedicated to accomplishing every goal they set, no matter what.
