Toshiba Adds High-definition PTZ Dome Cameras to IP Portfolio

Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., announced the latest additions to its Surveillix family of IP cameras and recorders, and the first to combine 18x optical zoom with full HD 1080p resolution, providing security installers and integrators with high-resolution object recognition in large areas, indoors and outdoors.

New Toshiba IKS-WP806 (indoor) and IKS-WP816R (outdoor-ready) PTZ dome cameras feature leading-edge IP technology to deliver premium pan/tilt/zoom functionality at a cost-effective price and bandwidth-efficient H.264 video streaming.

When surveillance is required over a large field of view, either of these full HD cameras will perform the same job as several standard resolution cameras, providing the sharp detail required for accurate identification in areas as large as four football fields. Equipped with a 360 degree rotation function, 256 pre-set pattern tours, and an 18x optical zoom lens, the cameras are ideally suited to environments that require situational awareness in large spaces plus the ability to zoom-in on subjects of interest with high precision. Both cameras also feature digital wide dynamic range to cope with high contrast and changing light conditions where objects are hard to identify.

Like all Toshiba IP products, fast installation is central to the engineering of the new IKS-WP806 and IKS-WP816R. ONVIF compliance gives end-users the flexibility they need to control costs and maximize their investment in existing equipment. Power Over Ethernet Plus (802.3at) adds flexibility of installation by injecting up to 30W of power over an Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional outlets or a separate power cord. Several mounting accessories are available.

The outdoor-ready model, IKS-816R, is IP66 rated to withstand harsh weather conditions plus features an integrated heater and fan that makes it suitable for temperatures ranging from -40° to 122° F.
