According to a report, Boeing has tagged BlackBerry to help develop its secretive Black smartphone. The phone is intended to be used by professionals in the defense and security communities.
Based on papers filed by Boeing, there are no serviceable parts in the device. Any attempt to break open the casing of the phone would trigger a deletion of saved data and software, as well as render the phone inoperable.
A level of trusted access to the data will use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES 12), which securely manages mobile devices running BlackBerry, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone software.
“We’re pleased to announce that Boeing is collaborating with BlackBerry to provide a secure mobile solution for Android devices utilizing our BES 12 platform, said BlackBerry CEO John Chen.
A BlackBerry spokeswoman confirmed the collaboration in the story, saying that it will “provide secure mobile solutions for Android devices utilizing our BES12 platform.”
