Gun Photo Posted on Facebook Causes Controversy

Alright gun advocates and those against guns; let’s start 2015 off with a “bang”…how about that 16-year-old Duggar kid, Jedidiah, posing with a shotgun on the family’s Facebook page? So far, this post has 1,597 likes, 28 shares and 606 comments including:

  • “Oh really, guns are what helped make America a free country!!!” Gun Photo Posted on Facebook Causes Controversy
  • “Worst present ever. I don’t have how much gun safety they teach their kids. All it takes is one time of not locking it up properly for one of the dozens of curious young kids in that house to get a hold of it and have an accident…”
  • “Hand not on trigger, shotgun not pointed at anyone, smile on young man’s face. Works for me.”
  • “I could go on for quite a while of why this is soooo wrong.”

From the looks of the photograph, with Christmas decorations and gift bags on the floor in the background, one can assume Jedidiah received this as a Christmas gift. He’s obviously happy about it, by the smile on his face, and well, I have to agree with the third bullet point above, he IS holding the gun correctly.

This isn’t the first Duggar child who has come under scrutiny for posing with a gun. Remember in June 2014, Jessa Duggar posed with a pink-trimmed assault rifle while her now husband, Ben Seewald, snapped a picture of her and posted it online. This also set off mixed online reactions.
