NSA Whistleblower Speaks with PBS about Digital Attacks

As digital attacks between states, nations and the world become more prominent and powerful, individuals are finding their voices and speaking up. Even NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has a thing or two to say about digital attacks.

From his hotel room in Moscow, Snowden speaks with Nova Next, a PBS program that features in-depth commentaries from respected journalists, scientists and engineers talking about ideas that are changing our future. He details the risks that are most often ignored of taking sabotage and espionage into the digital arena.

“With every Internet-enabled operation that we’ve seen so far, all of these offensive operations, we see knock on effects,” explained Snowden. “We see unintended consequences. When we put the little evil virus in the big pool of all our private lives, all our private systems around the Internet, it tends to escape and go ‘Jurassic Park’ on us. And as of yet, we’ve found no way to prevent that.”
