Security Guards of French President Being Questioned

Security Guards of French President Getting Questioned

Questions have now been asked in the wake of the incident

A bodyguard of French President Fancois Hollande accidently fired a bullet in the Elysee Palace, and now questions are being asked about the president’s personal security.

The April 10 incident involved a bullet let off by a gun dropped accidently by one of his close protection staff near a ground-floor toilet in the palace. Hollande was not in the building and the bullet ricocheted into a wall.

The security guards are part of the GSPR, an elite unit made up of police and military police. The staff covering the president was reduced from 93 to fewer than 60 after the incident.

The security detail is also facing criticism for allowing the president to visit the site of the Charlie Hebdo attacks and thus exposing himself to a second possible attack.
