Military Has Security Tightened After Chattanooga Shooting

The order covers thousands of military facilities within the U.S.

The military has ordered recruiting centers and all other facilities in the United States to increase their security following the shooting last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., that killed four Marines and a Navy petty officer.

According to reports, the order was issued by Adm. William E. Gortney, the head of the Northern Command. The order covers thousands of facilities within the United States.

“We have concerns about homegrown violent extremism and the opportunities there may be for future violent attacks,” said Michael Kucharek, a spokesman for the Northern Command.

A motive for the attacks last week has yet to be determined.
