U.S. Security Associates Announces New Segway and T3 Training

U.S. Security Associates (USA) releases three new training courses in response to the rising use of Segways and T3s for security patrols. USA provides security at many locations with Segway or T3 patrollers, from corporate and educational campuses to retail and entertainment venues to municipal districts and complexes. USA’s new security officer training on Segways and T3s focuses on operational readiness and on safety in particular.

In an average of 12 minutes each, Segway Safety, Segway SE3, and T3 Motion not only highlight unique safety and operational features of the vehicles but also review key concepts covered in Driver Safety, a USA training course that is mandatory for all security officers with driving responsibilities. Training Manager Robert Lowrey says that short, high-impact training courses like these meet an urgent need in today’s security industry, where pressure from shrinking margins has led many security firms to cut time and expenses associated with training.

“Safety is one of the fundamental benefits of using T3s and Segways in security applications,” according to Lowrey, “but training is key. We designed these courses to require a minimal time commitment, which means the training has the potential to reach more employees.”

Lowrey emphasized that these units are designed to complement hands-on field training, not to take its place.

The new Segway and T3 courses, along with other short-segment and full-length security officer training resources, are part of a library of approximately 700 training courses available through USA Security Academy. USA Security Academy is the company’s in-house training division, responsible for providing centralized, consistent training for nearly 50,000 employees nationwide.

With a core staff of certified instructors and training streamed live to classrooms all over the country, USA Security Academy provides everything from security officer basic training to advanced education and professional certifications. New courses are released regularly to comply with evolving regulatory and contractual requirements, to respond to evolving security threats, and to meet the diverse learning and development needs of security officers working in a variety of industries and settings.

Lowrey credits USA’s growing selection of course offerings and innovative learning strategies for more than a dozen training awards the company has received over the years. In 2015, USA was ranked among the world's Top 125 training companies by Training magazine for the ninth consecutive year. The company also won its third BEST Award from the Association for Talent Development in 2015 and earned Gold LearningElite status from Chief Learning Officer magazine.
