Total Recall Celebrates 30 Years

Total Recall is the video surveillance integrator for the Statue of Liberty

Total Recall Corporation, the video surveillance integrator for the Statue of Liberty and some of the national biggest metropolitan areas, is celebrating 30 years of designing and delivering technologically-advanced video surveillance security solutions for a variety of industries including law enforcement, government agencies, and corporations.

“When we started in November 1985, the video surveillance industry consisted of black and white, low resolution analog cameras with a camera count of six on the average job,” said Total Recall President Jordan Heilweil. “Today we often provide high definition video surveillance in 1,000-plus camera deployments accompanied by sophisticated hardware and software with fascinating and constantly developing capabilities, such as video synopsis, video redaction tools and virtual meeting rooms. The industry as a whole has evolved and we have worked to stay ahead by developing the most innovative customized solutions for our customers.”

One of the major innovations Total Recall has introduced over the last 30 years is its line of CrimeEye® tactical video units which enables law enforcement and municipalities to deploy complete video surveillance in a permanent setting. The latest edition to CrimeEye® line- CrimeEye®-RD (Rapid Deployment) - equips law enforcement professionals and security teams with a temporary mobile video surveillance system, which can be deployed in just minutes at special events such as marathons and parades.

Total Recall has developed into a three-decade long success story by listening to the customer as well as working closely with other leaders in the video surveillance industry including Dallmeier, Genetec, AXIS Communications and BriefCam. These partnerships allowed Total Recall to deliver innovative large-scale projects of national importance, including the updated surveillance system for the Statue of Liberty, Concert for Valor and many other public safety installations for government and commercial sectors.

Total Recall’s performance has been recognized by a number of industry awards, including: the AXIS Market Partner of the Year award, the Security Technology Executive Innovation Bronze Medal Award, the 2013 Emma Lazarus Humanitarian Award for Extraordinary Achievement, and the Security Products Magazine Platinum Govies Government Security Award for Tactical Video Surveillance Solutions.

“It’s been a great ride growing along with the ever-changing security industry,” said Heilweil. “Total Recall Corporation is firmly planted in the market and is committed to offering the most advanced and customized solutions that our customers desire in a video surveillance deployment. We look forward to many more years of shared success.”

  • Gaining a Competitive Edge

Ask most companies about their future technology plans and the answers will most likely include AI. Then ask how they plan to deploy it, and that is where the responses may start to vary. Every company has unique surveillance requirements that are based on market focus, scale, scope, risk tolerance, geographic area and, of course, budget. Those factors all play a role in deciding how to configure a surveillance system, and how to effectively implement technologies like AI. Read Now

  • The Stage is Set

The security industry spans the entire globe, with manufacturers, developers and suppliers on every continent (well, almost—sorry, Antarctica). That means when regulations pop up in one area, they often have a ripple effect that impacts the entire supply chain. Recent data privacy regulations like GDPR in Europe and CPRA in California made waves when they first went into effect, forcing businesses to change the way they approach data collection and storage to continue operating in those markets. Even highly specific regulations like the U.S.’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) can have international reverberations – and this growing volume of legislation has continued to affect global supply chains in a variety of different ways.
