HID Global to Supply U.S. Government with Permanent Resident Cards
HID Global has received an order from the U.S. government for the redesign, manufacture and supply of the country’s Permanent Resident Card – commonly known as the “Green Card.” The $88.3 million agreement marks the company’s largest government contract to date, extending a nearly two-decade relationship for another five years. The agreement expands production to include the manufacture and supply of additional government documents that will be enhanced with RFID technology for improved fraud protection.
“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with the U.S. government and are committed to delivering a new generation of the U.S. Green Card along with new high-security employment documents for them in the years to come,” said Rob Haslam, vice president of Government ID Solutions with HID Global. “This contract award proves anew that HID Global has been and will continue to be the country’s preeminent supplier of secure government ID document solutions through four successive generations of U.S. Green Cards and beyond.”
HID Global will be responsible for the secure production, delivery and storage of up to 34 million identity cards over the next five years. More than 10 million of HID Global’s first-generation multi-technology eID cards have been issued as Green Cards since 2010, with more than 32 million of the company’s first-generation Green Cards issued since 1997. HID Global will also play a pivotal role in helping to upgrade today’s U.S. Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) by supplying cards featuring RFID technology and new, fraud-resistant security features. These advanced documents, which serve as evidence of authorization to be employed in the United States, will be issued to individuals as they apply for new, renewal or replacement PRC and EAD cards.
