Cognitec Face Recognition System Supports Macau Casino Security

Cognitec’s highly specialized face recognition technology FaceVACS-VideoScan was selected to strengthen physical security measures in major Macau casinos by alerting security staff in real time about banned persons entering the premises.

In partnership with Melco Crown Entertainment, Cognitec supported the large-scale design and implementation efforts on site, resulting in multiple efficient system installations that now successfully prevent losses and criminal activities.

Stephen Meltz, Managing Director Asia Pacific at Cognitec, said: “Championed by David Mackay, SVP of Asset Protection, Melco Crown’s security team welcomed Cognitec’s technical specialists to work determinedly toward the completion of these projects. We are proud to deliver the first system of its kind in the casino market.”

Cognitec’s software solution uses advanced face recognition technology to detect people’s faces in live video streams and compare them to databases of banned persons. Security staff receive real-time alerts and can deny entrance to the detected individual.

Leroy Daniel, Executive Director, Surveillance Operations at Melco Crown Entertainment, will speak about the system during his talk “How we got facial recognition to work” at the World Game Protection Conference at The M Resort, Las Vegas, NV, at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

“By working closely with Cognitec and through a process of internal research, experimentation and analysis, we have found a tipping point,” said Leroy Daniel. “We are confident that our joint commitment to this significant project will result in safer casino environments for casino staff and patrons.”

At the expo during the same event, on February 23 and 24, Cognitec is showing a live demonstration of the technology in booth 12/13 and invites gaming security professionals to talk to our staff about existing installations and product benefits.
