Axis Unveils a New Line of Video Solutions Designed for Small Businesses

It's hard to believe, but the first IP video camera from Axis was released 20 years ago with the AXIS Neteye. Now, not surprisingly, the company introduces more than 80 new camera models every year.

And at ISC West 2016 in Las Vegas, Axis continued to branch out by introducing a new lineup of video equipment designed specifically for small businesses. While Axis has previously spent most of its efforts providing solutions for large enterprises, the new Companion Line is decidedly different.

In the United States, 79 percent of companies are considered small businesses, and those owners and operators have different needs. They have limited or no knowledge of surveillance equipment along with having basic needs to capture video. Most importantly, they are probably cash constrained.

The AXIS Companion line is designed to help meet those needs. The cameras start at $169 and go up to $249. A 4-port PoE switch is $79 while a 2GB recorder costs $499. You can double that storage for $100 more.

While the line costs less than other products from the company, the cameras share a number of similar qualities with their more expensive brethren including Zipstream technology to help decrease bandwidth, full HD video, and wide dynamic range technology.

All of the products are back with a three-year warranty.

Axis also took the time to introduce Camera Station 5.0. The software works with the entire portfolio of cameras from the company.

Finally, along with introducing three other new cameras, the company announced that the Zipstream technology now works with PTZ cameras.
