3VR Announces Several Important Enhancements to its Video Management Software

3VR, a video data and technology company, today announced several enhancements to its video management software, VisionPoint VMS.  This includes support for 360 degree cameras, the addition of a Web-based OpCenter, and integration with tape-based storage solutions from Quantum.

"Consistently making upgrades like these helps us stay ahead of customer demands and ensures that our VisionPoint VMS is a competitive and well-positioned product," said Uma Welingkar, vice president of product management for 3VR.  "Supporting the latest video inputs like 360-degree cameras is only part of what makes a VMS great, which is why these latest improvements also take into consideration how customers want to access and store their video data."

3VR's VisionPoint VMS now supports popular 360-degree cameras from Arecont Vision, Axis Communications, Sony Electronics and Vivotek.  These cameras offer a field of view which is much wider than fixed cameras.  However, image distortion is common with 360-degree lenses, requiring the video to be de-warped for better viewing.  Rather than de-warping the video at the camera level – which degrades image quality due to processing limitations – 3VR's technology de-warps the video at the VMS level.  Doing so maintains higher video quality during processing, so more video data is available for post-incident analysis.  Camera orientation and configuration are managed using 3VR's system manager, making it easy to use cameras from multiple vendors.

3VR's new OpCenter is a Web-based operations center that enables users to search and analyze video data from VisionPoint VMS on any computer or mobile device via the Internet.  Customers can watch live or recorded video with the ability to view single or multiple channels across the enterprise.  3VR's patented search capabilities – including motion and analytics-based search like dwell time, facial surveillance and gender identification – are all available through OpCenter.  OpCenter also provides a completely redesigned user interface and true Web-based access to video without the need for vendor-specific applications.

Finally, 3VR has integrated its VisionPoint VMS with low-cost, tape-based storage solutions from Quantum.  This gives customers the ability to archive and store video data for extended periods of time.  The integration allows customers to seamlessly view and search the video stored on tape directly through the new OpCenter.

3VR is demonstrating all of these enhancements to its VisionPoint VMS at the ISC West trade show in Las Vegas, April 6-8.  Interested end users, security dealers and integrators are invited to visit booth No. 23075 for more information.
