Axis Puts the Press to the Test at Its Annual Media Breakfast

While Alex Trebek was no where to be found, Axis puts members of the press to the test at its annual media breakfast to start ISC West on Wednesday with a game of Jeopardy.

One side of the room teamed with Fredrik Nilsson, vice president of the Americas. The other players were led by Martin Gren, Axis co-founder and inventor of the first network camera.

And you could probably guess the subject of the game - Axis and its products. Media members could select from four different categories, Innovating, Smarter, Safer, and World.

Everyone had fun testing their knowledge of Axis. During the game, both Nilsson and Gren also took time to discuss some of the new products and initiatives from the company.

On the camera side, Axis unveiled a set of new IR-enabled cameras.

A standout feature of the AXIS Q6125-LE, AXIS M3057-PLVE, and AXIS M3058-PLVE models is the OptimizedIR technology. That allows the IR light to evenly illuminate over the complete camera view and doesn’t allow anyone to know exactly where the camera is focusing.

The company is also continuing its push into other IP areas, most notably audio.

Noting that IP audio is currently around a 10 percent penetration rate, Nilsson said that number was close to where the IP camera was in 1998.

Just yesterday, Axis announced the AXIS T61 Audio and I/O Interface Series that brings both audio and I/O connectivity to Axis camera that don’t have either feature built-in.

And the AXIS Audio Manager C7050 Server can be used to configure and manage larger, more complex audio systems like found in schools and retailers.

“If you really want to provide a safer and smarter school, both audio and video should be tied in together,” Nilsson said.
