Don’t Miss These Opportunities to Learn at ISC West

ISC West is so huge that I often forget that there is more to it than an Expo Hall in the middle of the Las Vegas strip.

Each year, ISC West in partnership with SIA, puts together a string of educational sessions to help attendees further their knowledge on certain topics. Here's the top three sessions the Security Today team hope to be sitting in on:

Stadium Security – As it was, where it is and where it is going…

Take a journey down memory lane as we explore the history and evolution of the ever-changing stadium security landscape. Russ Butler, Vice President of Security for the San Francisco 49ers and Levi's Stadium, will give an eye-opening keynote presentation reviewing some of the recent security threats, challenges and encounters his team has faced, while providing insights and perspectives on where stadium security is heading.

Time: April 11, 2019 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
Location: Venetian Ballroom, Level 2

Back by Popular Demand: Active Shooter Workshop

Under today's threat environment active shootings have unfortunately maintained a very deadly and real threat for businesses and communities. Regardless of the business model or size, employees and guests have fallen victim to these vicious attacks that occur without warning or impunity.

This hands-on workshop focuses on how a business and its employees are not silent observers in deadly emergencies, but a valuable partner who can provide clarity, assistance and guidance to the first responder community. While we are an information society that thrives on timely and actionable communications when facing barbaric acts, this session helps you discover the communications platform and infrastructure to determine the plan on who should dispatch these messages.

Time: April 9, 2019, 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.
Location: Sands 307

Beyond Patrol: Body Worn Cameras for Government Personnel, School Safety Officers and Private Security

This session is focused on the use of body worn cameras (BWCs) beyond the police patrol function. In addition to police patrol functions, BWCs are being implemented in a variety of contexts including in courtrooms, city services agencies, schools, and university settings.

During this session, findings from Arizona State University's (ASU) report on the use of body-worn cameras in environments outside of the law enforcement setting, along with the challenges and benefits of deploying BWCs within government, schools, and private security settings.

Time: April 10, 2019, 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
Location: Sands 302
