An Odd Year for Tradeshows

An Odd Year for Tradeshows

Hoping there is a bit more action at GSX today considering the experience from the first day of this tradeshow yesterday.

There was about as much traffic on the show floor as you might find on Main Street in Byron, Wyoming.

A few exhibitors were busy but for the most part there were few attendees anywhere. I’m not complaining, for me, I have been able to visit all scheduled booth visits with no trouble at all.

Grateful that ASIS put this show together, it is nice to visit face-to-face, albeit with a mask, and oh by the way, it must cover mouth and nose.

I noticed that not all noses are suitable for a mask. Oh well, people are trying.

Here are some things I found quite interesting.

IPVideo is at it again, adding more elements to their HALO device. Now it has an audio component and there is more to come during next year’s ISC West show.

Stay tuned.

Tyco/Johnson Controls has a space off the show floor, which I suppose was a great resting place for their autonomous drone, but what caught my eye was a fully integrated mail screening device. The X-ray mail scanner displays contents of a package to the security command center.

New to me, Databuoy showed a mobile panic button. It is a Geofob well used in commercial and hotel security teams. It is a one press panic button that reports a user’s location. Databuoy also has a real-time gunshot detection solution. Dang, I wish these kinds of things weren’t necessary but the system provides immediate notification.

There’s more to come from GSX, but I’m hoping there are many more attendees filling the aisles tomorrow. It is a cozy setting inside the convention center but still plenty of room to roam.
