Former TSA Executive Steve Karoly Joins AI Board of Advisors

Analytical AI announced the addition of Steve Karoly to its Board of Advisors. Karoly, a former TSA executive, will provide strategic advice to the Birmingham, AL company, which develops artificial intelligence threat identification solutions for clients around the world.

Karoly is Executive vice president of Bethesda, MD-based K2 Security Screening Group, a planning, management, installation, and integration of airport passenger and checked baggage security screening systems, and president and CEO of SJ Karoly Solutions, a strategic advisory firm specializing in national security, systems engineering and technology integration.

Karoly is a senior security, nuclear and defense executive with more than 30 years of government, transportation and technology industry experience overseeing the development, procurement and implementation of advanced national defense and security technologies and systems to protect the nation’s borders and transportation systems.

Karoly was the TSA acting assistant administrator for Requirements and Capabilities Analysis, where he headed up several enterprise-wide initiatives focused on identifying, adapting, and implementing more agile aviation security solutions. Karoly was also TSA’s Innovation Leader and led the development of the agency’s Innovation Strategy, testifying before Congress to articulate the expected results of the strategic plan.

Karoly also served as the senior executive at Department of Homeland Security’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office, acquiring and deploying radiological and nuclear detection systems. At DHS Customs and Border Protection he oversaw the identification, design, procurement and deployment of border and maritime security equipment.

Karoly joins three current executive level advisors on the Analytical AI Board of Advisors. “Steve’s leadership and experience within the national security community will be a tremendous asset on our advisory board,” said Mark Froehlich, co-founder and CEO of Analytical AI. “His unique perspective in security operations and notable defense and homeland security expertise will be invaluable in developing successful capabilities for our clients.”
