The Cost of Security

Traveling to and participating in ISC East is always a pleasure. For me, I can get a little closer to learning about security solutions, and possibilities for integration tomorrow. I always ask the question of “this is a great solution, but what will it do tomorrow?”

From a technology development standpoint, the hard work is there. Product engineers are constantly refining, upgrading and introducing upgrades. Acceptance of the security product may get hung-up in the C-suite. Nothing personal but integrating security solutions has been all cost to the bottom line. That is a difficult decision for the C-suite.

I have noticed a big push recently within the security industry to teach end users about the remarkable ability of security products used in other capacities. This is a valid point that can be discussion in the C-suite. A camera system with all its abilities to perform security in a warehouse can record a slip and fall incident.

You might want to join us on Dec. 14 for a webinar that I will be hosting with Alan Saquella, who will layout the foundation for communicating the value of security to the C-suite is a top priority when it comes to maintaining and increasing security budgets. Here is a link to sign on for this free webinar.

Security solutions are ever changing. ISC East proved that to me. I bumped into Wade Thomas, president and COO and Digital Watchdog. Business is good and I am not surprised. Thomas knows the security industry inside and out, and can detail the multiple uses of security equipment.

I have not seen Doug Cherney for a while, but he is with Motorola Solutions. Hoping to catch up and see what is happening in that world.

I also had the chance to meet up with Steve Carrozzo, formerly of ComNet. Carrozzo has a new adventure in the works with Edge Networks. This is a company to keep an eye on.
